Early morning treat…

Looking out the window, tripping down our street was a solitary coyote.
Yelling to my husband, “come quick, a coyote!”

No concerns in the world, yet watching his back, the coyote true on his course went straight down the street. A busy squirrel scampered up the walnut tree in terror. Turned around and flapped his tail in anticipation and then relief as the coyote kept on his intended route.

Does this animal come by our house everyday? Is he seeking new territory? Was he born around here? Something does keep our rabbits at bay, maybe him. Hmmmm, haven’t seen that cat wandering in our yard lately.

What a treat to see this morning…
My only regret – the camera wasn’t in my hand!

No knocks at the door
No youthful voices
No friendly smiles
Howling winds through the trees
Sleeting on the streets
Mother Nature saying
“Stay home, keep warm…
Have a taste of winter…
Your wooly bears are right.
Short fall – LONG WINTER!”
