Being very diligent about the directions on the container, my husband shook it well before opening.  From the other end of the house I heard noises I’d never heard before.  Deciding to check it out, I was warned “don’t walk over here.”

He shook the bottle well, started to unscrew the lid and pop – keifer flew to all four walls and of course the ceiling!  We will probably spot keifer until the “cows come home” – thank goodness we still need to paint the kitchen walls!

Shaking my head I just went to bed leaving him with clean-up duty!

Taste test….

First choice:  Mrs. Wages

4 cups crushed fruit to 1 1/2 cups sugar

Yields: 5 to 6 cups 

Second choice: Kraft Fresh Blends

2 cups cut not crushed fruit- sugar included

Yields: 3 to 4 cups


Third choice: Sure Jell pink box

4 cups crushed fruit to 3 cups sugar

Yields: 6 cups


Fourth choice  Cooks Illustrated no pectin added cooked

3 cups cut berries to one cup sugar plus 3 tablespoons lemon juice

Allows for variety in thickness…might work well for donut filling


Didn’t try the yellow Sure Jell ( ran out of berries)

2 cups crushed berries to 4 cups sugar

Yields: 5 cups
